Through working with education systems to design school educational improvement programs we can now offer a direct to school comprehensive school improvement journey informed by the science of learning.

Knowledge Society is pleased to present KnowledgeAbility, our school improvement journey ready for roll-out in your school. This comprehensive program is designed first to engage your entire school community in a focused-effort to lift learning outcomes through evidence-informed teacher and leader professional learning over three years.

The program has four phases: Building a foundation for successful change; implementing the KnowledgeAbility professional learning to build the knowledge-base your teachers and leaders require for successful practice change; embedding change in classrooms and; an ongoing journey to improve fidelity of practice in every classroom every day.

Specific program elements

The program is comprehensive and gives teachers and leaders comprehensive professional learning covering knowledge, skills and practices across:

  • Change management
  • Science of Learning
  • Science of Reading
  • High impact teaching practice in:
    • Pedagogy and classroom management
    • Assessment and intervention protocols
  • Whole of school and knowledge-rich approaches to curriculum resources
  • Investments in upgrading teacher disciplinary knowledge in key subject areas

Coaching and feedback are also built in throughout the program including in classroom coaching of teacher practice, a vital component of genuine practice change.

KnowledgeAbility was designed in consultation with Australian teachers, principals and system leaders to ensure that it is fit for purpose for the Australian context. At its heart, however, is the requirement that teachers and leaders develop a deep understanding of human cognitive architecture as the vital knowledge, combined with disciplinary knowledge, that is required to be an effective classroom teacher.
